Thoughts And Feelings

How often do we let our thoughts and feelings take over our lives? It is unquestionable that most of us tend to act on impulse from the position of our feelings and often lead ourselves down the spiral of never ending pain and mental pressure.

It can be easy to become sidetracked and let go of our focus on the moment especially as we move through a fast packed day filled with educational activities, work, social interactions and children. A large percentage of the world operates and acts from impulse. To be more specific when we act from impulse we are actually acting either from memory or from the standpoint of anticipating the future. The past cannot be changed as we all know although we often tend to think that our mind will help us to reshape tomorrow by trying to make the past better. The future does not actually exist as the universe is in constant expansion and the only thing that exists is the present moment.  By being fully present in the moment at hand, which is all we ever really have we begin to live life and create through our experience rather than think that we can use our mind to create the future. If you are sat at your work desk then your attention should be 100% focused on being in the moment. What would happen if you were driving your car with 50% of your attention on the road ahead and the other 50% running from your mental past or daydreaming about a fruitful future? The word crash comes to mind. A huge percent of the worlds population are hardly focused on any moment throughout the day if ever.

How can we train our minds to bypass this sort of thinking or from acting on impulse from our feelings of excitement or hurt? The mind cannot be trained for if you think you are training the mind then you are still thinking and the mind simply does what it is programmed to do - think. By being 100% fully present in the moment your feelings cannot penetrate you and gain access to the mind, for they both work hand in hand to lead you astray up the garden path. For example - someone may walk into your office and treat you unfairly, shouting and hurling abuse at you sparking your internal anger then sending a signal to the mind which will compute a 'solution' to react in a specific manner. This is what gets most of the population in so much trouble. The intention here is to just simply be in the moment and accept things as they arise taking no position about it whatsoever thus operating from power rather than force.
