Do I See What You See?

Why do people not see things in the same light that we do, does this mean that they are incompetent or unintelligent? Not quite....

Subjectivity is the basis of existence. We only consciously know and understand that which we have experienced therefore something that we have not come across on our path may well seem alien to us. The idea that our partner, friend or relative cannot understand what we would term as simple or common knowledge can often be frustrating to say the least. Our expectations are illusive and to expect is to anticipate the future, missing the present moment.

Two people witnessing the same phenomena are not experiencing the same thoughts and feelings, therefore it is wise to respect other people's ideas and act with empathy - if any action is necessary at all.  Most of the time action is taken on impulse and lands us in more trouble than we anticipated.

Good Morning!

What a wonderful morning it is indeed!

When we start the morning on the correct foot the other foot has no choice but to follow in suit. Whether we are feeling groggy or uplifted is quite irrelevant as to how we would like to spend the rest of the day therefore our intention is driven by our attitude and whether we are willing to change or not.

Be the change that you want to be and know that your memory of yesterday cannot serve you right here & now. What do we mean when we say be the change? This kind of action means to exercise imitation and it is very simple - if we want to become a professional dancer we need to mimic the steps of the pro's until we have gained sufficient knowledge & understanding of the necessary movements. Well, in the same way if we want to live a more healthier & balanced lifestyle then we need to follow the exact same principle. We cannot become a professional dancer by hanging around the local park. We cannot manifest any change by standing still and waiting for it to fall into our lap.

Nothing changes if nothing changes....

Where Are You Now?

Are you fully present in the moment or are you living in the past - maybe anticipating the future? If so, then you are not being purely intelligent or creative. The mind is intelligent but it is not pure intelligence, it merely thinks it is. How much of your day do you spend daydreaming and thinking about what you are going to do and what percentage of your 'precious' time is spent on taking action? This is something you may want to think about if you feel that life is constantly dealing you a harsh hand of cards.

You can only be true at this moment here and now. The only reality is inside your body, everything else is projected through the sensory system as a subjective reality, meaning you only understand that which you have been subjected to.  When one passes judgement onto something that they have not experienced then it is an opinion which is not true in reality and is an alternate reality created by the human ego of the self through fear of its own survival. It fears that if it is found out to 'not know,' then there is a possibility that truth will dominate. However, the human ego thinks that it is the truth of existence and that it possesses the answer to every question.

Notice how when someone says something or something occurs that we do not understand,  our feelings and thoughts join together to take a position or construct an opinion. Eventually and automatically, two parties involved take positions which is where we form a stalemate, an argument or disagreement. This phenomena is a major cause for all distress and confusion.

WHEN YOU ACT UPON A FEELING YOU HAVE TAKEN A POSITION - THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS.

Thoughts And Feelings

How often do we let our thoughts and feelings take over our lives? It is unquestionable that most of us tend to act on impulse from the position of our feelings and often lead ourselves down the spiral of never ending pain and mental pressure.

It can be easy to become sidetracked and let go of our focus on the moment especially as we move through a fast packed day filled with educational activities, work, social interactions and children. A large percentage of the world operates and acts from impulse. To be more specific when we act from impulse we are actually acting either from memory or from the standpoint of anticipating the future. The past cannot be changed as we all know although we often tend to think that our mind will help us to reshape tomorrow by trying to make the past better. The future does not actually exist as the universe is in constant expansion and the only thing that exists is the present moment.  By being fully present in the moment at hand, which is all we ever really have we begin to live life and create through our experience rather than think that we can use our mind to create the future. If you are sat at your work desk then your attention should be 100% focused on being in the moment. What would happen if you were driving your car with 50% of your attention on the road ahead and the other 50% running from your mental past or daydreaming about a fruitful future? The word crash comes to mind. A huge percent of the worlds population are hardly focused on any moment throughout the day if ever.

How can we train our minds to bypass this sort of thinking or from acting on impulse from our feelings of excitement or hurt? The mind cannot be trained for if you think you are training the mind then you are still thinking and the mind simply does what it is programmed to do - think. By being 100% fully present in the moment your feelings cannot penetrate you and gain access to the mind, for they both work hand in hand to lead you astray up the garden path. For example - someone may walk into your office and treat you unfairly, shouting and hurling abuse at you sparking your internal anger then sending a signal to the mind which will compute a 'solution' to react in a specific manner. This is what gets most of the population in so much trouble. The intention here is to just simply be in the moment and accept things as they arise taking no position about it whatsoever thus operating from power rather than force.
